Front of the THR880i looks just like almost all Nokia cellular phones. The keys are more apart though and the chassis is more rugged. One design criteria has been that this must be usable with eg. firefighter gloves.

With THR880i you can make duplex calls just like with a cellular phone. Twoway calls can be made using the phone speaker and mic, too

TETRA includes SMS features, although it is called SDS (Short Data Service) instead of SMS and has limit of 120 characters per message. This is truly the most important feature in public safety messaging!
